Community Engagement Coordinator

POSITION DESCRIPTION

Big Brothers Big Sisters Sault Ste. Marie [BBBSSSM] is a leader in offering quality mentoring programs for children and youth within the community.  The Community Engagement Coordinator will perform duties in accordance with the National Standards as required by Big Brothers Big Sisters of Canada.

Reporting to the Program Manager, the Community Engagement Coordinator will be responsible for developing and implementing targeted engagement plans that align with the organization’s strategic and operational goals and objectives.  The successful candidate will also use their technical and creative skills to help advance the mission of the organization.

Key Priorities:

  • Ensure agency compliance, in accordance with National Standards
  • Audit internal processes to address inefficiencies, implement improvements
  • Create and implement processes for sharing data, templates and creative content
  • With input from the Program Manager and Board, develop and implement an overall fund development plan
  • Plan, coordinate and execute new signature event, provide report and executive summary
  • Take lead on current fundraising events, working with event sub-committees
  • Manage all communications, creating communication assets, materials and resources for fundraisers
  • Expand community impact awareness through agency involvement with new social media platforms
  • Create content for social media channels, support website revisions and updates
  • Produce graphic, photo and video content in accordance with brand standards
  • Seek new opportunities for partnerships, donors, 3rd party partners, assist in the development of new procedures/policies
  • Working with the Program Manager – develop donor engagement strategies/plans
  • Assist Program Manager in the development of community engagement plans for agency
  • Provide stats, KPI’s, reports, audit results and recommendations
  • Maintain strict confidentiality as outlined in agency Privacy and Confidentiality Policies
  • Perform administrative functions as required, ex. drafting documents, letters and filing
  • Participate in educational training as identified.
  • Assist with the promotion of agency specific mentorship programs
  • Expand community engagement through volunteer recruitment and brand recognition
  • Other duties as required

Qualifications:

  • University Degree or College Diploma in a related field (Marketing and Communications, Fundraising, Event Planning, Graphic Design, Volunteer Resource Management, Project Management) or equivalent, with 2-3 years’ experience
  • Experience with Web Design at entry level or higher (HTML, CSS, PHP) considered an asset
  • Experience creating and editing social media content, professional management of social media channels
  • Experience planning and organizing fundraising events, ie. Golf Tournament, Dinner, Raffles
  • Experience in or Knowledge of non-profit or charitable sector
  • High level knowledge of digital technologies, platforms and services (WordPress, Adobe, Canva, Microsoft applications)

In addition, the incumbent shall possess:

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Strong problem-solving skills, ability to work independently with minimum supervision, and with flexibility to respond to shifting priorities
  • Experience and understanding of not for profit sector and charity work
  • Strong attention to detail, effective time management skills, balancing multiple projects
  • Proficient computer skills, experience with Microsoft applications
  • Experience and/or knowledge and ability to work with board and committee members

Requirements:

  • Valid Ontario Driver’s License with access to a vehicle
  • Ability to work flexible hours including evening and weekends (if and when needed)
  • Ability to work a hybrid model, in office and remotely/in the field (from home or required location)
  • Successful completion of Criminal Record Check

Full time, 1-year contract, Monday – Friday, 8:30-4:30 (with flexibility when required, subject to operational requirements)

Hybrid working environment (in office, from home and in the field)

Salary is $40,000.00/yr $21.99/hr
