Mentoring Coordinator

Scope of work/Position Summary:

Big Brothers Big Sisters Sault Ste. Marie is a leader in offering quality Mentoring programs for children and youth within the community. This exciting opportunity is a newly created role designed to support the growth of an existing program, giving us the ability to reach more children and youth and expand our impact within the community.

The Mentoring Coordinator will play a key role in the development, planning, and launch of the program, overseeing its growth from concept to implementation and ensuring its continued success. If you are someone with vision, initiative, and a passion for developing and leading impactful programs, this position offers you the opportunity to play a pivotal part in the program’s success.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Research and Development
    • Research potential partners, collaborators to support the program
    • Gather resources to build assets and materials
    • Design and develop all required documents, including policies, manuals, and reports
    • Identify and initiate connections through presentations, referrals, introduction letters
    • Identify key performance indicators and develop tools to track stats, success and impact
    • Develop work plan to reach goals, targets and fulfill program objectives and outcomes
    • Purchase supplies and build resource kits, develop and monitor resources for programs
    • Accumulate internal and external data, build case for support and testimonials
    • Attend collaboration meetings to strengthen program practices
  • Program Delivery
    • Create resources, design information brochures, handouts, forms
    • Collaborate with partners, school board, principals, teachers
    • Recruit, screen, train, supervise program volunteers
    • Onboard children and youth into program
    • Provide match support according to National Standards
    • Complete and submit program reports, stats, evaluations, SWOT analysis, KPI’s
    • Expand program to new partners, increase number of children and youth served
    • Track success, adapt and enhance continued roll out of program
    • Work with partners to facilitate group based programs
    • Manage caseload, complete case notes, maintain files utilizing internal database
    • Maintain strict confidentiality as outlined in agency policies
    • Other duties as required

Qualifications/Experience:

  • Understanding of and/or experience working with schools, teachers, board considered an asset
  • Proven experience in program development, planning, or expansion
  • Relevant experience in social services, volunteer resources, working with children and youth
  • Post-secondary diploma or degree in a related field
  • Experience providing direct services or case management to individuals or families
  • Ability to build trust and maintain professional, supportive relationships with program participants from diverse backgrounds
  • Strong organizational skills to manage a caseload, document interactions, and maintain accurate, timely records
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage timelines, coordinate multiple activities, and track progress toward goals
  • Excellent administrative skills, proficient computer skills, experience with Microsoft Office 365
  • Strong problem skills, ability to work independently, think creatively and resourceful
  • Must be able to multitask, manage workload with competing deadlines, strong organizational skills

Requirements:

  • Valid Ontario Driver’s License with access to a vehicle
  • Ability to work in hybrid model (in office, at home, in the field)
  • Successful completion of Criminal Record Check/Vulnerable Sector Check

Full time – 35hrs/week Mon-Fri 8:30-4:30  Salary – $44,000.00
