Could you be the Big Brother someone is waiting for?

A new campaign from Big Brothers Big Sisters of Sault Ste. Marie is inviting men to see themselves as mentors.

We’re putting a mirror in front of men in our community and asking one simple question:

Could you be the Big Brother someone is waiting for?

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Sault Ste. Marie has launched a new awareness campaign called Mirror, Mirror to help recruit male mentors for our Fall 2026 In-School Mentoring program .

The idea behind the campaign is simple. Sometimes, men do not see themselves as mentors because they think they need special experience, a perfect schedule, or all the right answers. But being a Big Brother can be much simpler than that.

Through In-School Mentoring, a Big Brother spends one hour a week at school with a young person who could benefit from having another positive adult in their corner.

For many boys in our school system, that extra positive relationship can make a meaningful difference.

That hour might look like playing a game, shooting hoops, talking, laughing, or just being someone who shows up. For a young person, that kind of consistency can help them feel more seen, supported, and connected.

The mirror is a reminder that a Big Brother does not have to look a certain way. He does not have to be perfect. He just has to be willing to show up, be himself, and spend time with a young person who could use someone like him.

Come see the Mirror, Mirror campaign in person at The Tap Room on Friday, June 12 during MEGAbike. Stop by, take a look, and come say hello!

After MEGAbike, the mirror will continue moving around the city throughout July and August. Keep an eye out for it in different community spaces, take a picture when you spot it, and tag us on social media!

While this campaign is focused on recruiting Big Brothers for Fall 2026 In-School Mentoring, we know daytime volunteering does not work for everyone. Other mentoring opportunities are also available, and any involvement can mean the world to boys in our community.

Because a Big Brother looks like you.
